Some Updates – And Accountability

1. An update on my non-resolution New Year s resolutions.

April – Play a solo in my flute studio recital. It’s usually in April so this works out great. If it doesn’t happen in April, I’ll make a backup plan to perform a solo at church.

UPDATE: I totally did this and then we forgot the camera so I didn’t record it. I played a pretty interesting piece called The Goldfinch that sounded like some birds fluttering around.

May – Get in the lake for some wakeboarding. This is a heck of a goal because the water will be COLD in May. So if I actually do this, it’ll be awesome. I also plan to celebrate Girls Weekend 2009 in May. That’s TWO great things for this month. Or at least one guaranteed thing if I wimp out on getting in the water.

UPDATE: DONE! I went wakeboarding TWICE this weekend. First behind a friend’s boat at Raintree Lake on Friday night, and again on Saturday at the cable park. I rocked it Friday night (well, rocked it for me means I didn’t fall on my face, and I got up more than once) but was pretty disappointed Saturday when I couldn’t even stay up at the cable park. Today I feel like my arms might fall off but I was totally ready to get on the lake again with some people we met at the cable park…until she texted to say she got WHIP LASH yesterday. No one said shredding was safe. That’s for damn sure.

2. Concert Experience #1 – Cake I went to Grinder’s in the Crossroads Saturday May 2 with G and MM to see Cake. They haven’t produced in CD in years but they are still awesome. We ate at this VERY delicious place called Pizza Bella and then headed to the show. I took this video just for G, who definitely lives a rock ‘n roll lifestyle.
Editor's Note: I'm having trouble with these videos today :( I will try again later!

3. Concert Experience #2 – Kenny Chesney What can I say, I have an eclectic taste in music. My BF and her husband invited us to see their favorite country singer so we decided to give it a shot….and we had a GREAT time. Kenny put on a great show and even though I only really like a handful of his songs, he sang every one of them! This is Kenny singing TG’s favorite song about drinking beer in Mexico (one of our very favorite things to do).

4. Accountability – This is my proclamation to the world that I’m ready to lose weight, and I’m doing it by joining Weight Watchers. WW offers this “at work” program where you can join via work and they have the meetings at the office. It’s super convenient (it’s at lunch every Wednesday), although the idea of being with work people during meetings seems a little weird at first. It actually hasn’t been that weird at all, and has helped to build a little support group right with the people you work with. I had my first weigh in last Wednesday, so I’m just now getting the hang out counting “points” and all that jazz. I’ve switched my morning cereal for a whey meal replacement shake and have made a conscience effort to not eat candy or sweets (my team is particularly bad about having a bowl of skittles and other treats sitting out every week). I think knowing that I’ve paid $180 and am dedicated for the next 17 weeks to this is program is going to help. And blogging about it will also give me some accountability. I’ve put myself on the list for several WW cookbooks at the library and have been looking into point-friendly meal options.
