Girls Weekend 2010!

This year marks the 6th annual girls’ weekend with my college friends. Since 2004 we’ve been taking a weekend in May to have a long weekend together and catch up.

Past girls weekends include:
2004 – Austin
2005 – Chicago
2006 – Las Vegas
2007 – Hermann, MO
2008 – Minneapolis
2009 – Memphis

And 2010 will be in…EUREKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS!

It’s not glamorous or fancy, but we sure are excited. All 10 girls are going to make it this year (not everyone goes every year for various reasons…new babies, money, travel distance, etc.). The goal of girls’ weekend is to spend less than $300 on a long weekend. Some destinations seem flashier than others, but the point is that we’re all together, catching up on lost time. We are spread out between Kansas City, Omaha, Lincoln, Minneapolis, and New York these days so the only time we usually get together is weddings (and believe it or not, pretty much everyone is married off now).

Eureka Springs is a small town but should have plenty for us to do, including old time photos, boat rides on the lake, and shopping. There will, of course, be some drinks involved. And we’ve stepped it up this year by reserving pimp accommodations for our weekend.

We’ve just secured a house about 1.5 miles from downtown Eureka Springs. It’s a three bedroom, three bath house without enough beds to sleep everyone (no one has to sleep in the bathtub this year!), complete with a hot tub, fire pit, and a bunch of other fancy amenities.

AA pointed out this is going to be awesome like the Real World but with a lot less drama. I still think we should have a confessional complete with video or at least a camera to record some of the better moments of the weekend.

brad and i spent a few days in eureka for our 10 year anniversary this summer...it really is a nice little town. and really beautiful. they have horseback riding, which was fun, and the view from the top of where we rode was awesome. they also have a "haunted" hotel you can tour. we didn't get to that, but i guess it's kind of a big deal. have a great trip!
