Saturday was shaping up to be a pretty fantastic day.
I went to get pedicures at my new favorite place with AA, hit up the cable park with the wakegirls, and then planned to get all cleaned up and head to the wedding reception of the newly married Cook couple.
Everything was going splendidly. After a wicked run at the cable park, I was heading home. It was 5:15, I was 4 miles from home, and then it happened - the “incident”.
I was traveling east on Colbern Road when I saw her. I saw her in a black SUV not looking at me. I even thought to myself, “That girl isn’t looking at me.” And then she turned in front of me. Despite my efforts to stop, our cars collided.
That’s how the Acura lost a battle against a Ford Explorer.
As soon as I stopped, I looked right at her and threw my hands in the air (in a WTF sort of fashion). I got out of the car, but she stayed in her car. She pointed at the gas station she was turning into, and I followed her there.
The Acura instantly died during the collision and when I started it again, started flashing like a Christmas tree to check ABS, check break system, check oil (okay, the check oil light was on for a couple days…I still had 15% life before I needed to make an appointment this week!).
The first thing I said when I got out of the car was, “WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU LOOKING AT?!?!”
She didn’t know. She started crying.
The next thing I said was, “Why are you crying? We’re fine. It’s fine.”
She said she cries when she’s upset.
She started asking if there was someone in front of her when she turned. She said she didn’t know why she stopped.
I called the police. She called her mom.
If I learned anything from the last incident, always call the police.
She was cited for failure to yield and drove away with a barely-dented front bumper.
I had to be towed away and will probably be without a car for a week or two (most likely will be rewarded with a sweet rental car like a PT Cruiser.). I will also have an accident listed with the Acura so when I go to re-sell it, will lose money. Fortunately, I love that car and want to drive it until it dies. But it’s still annoying.
Today will be the day of awesomeness when I get to start dealing with the entire situation. I have already called the insurance company and made the claim and my car is at the repair shop. I’m just highly annoyed with everything else that’s going to have to be dealt with because she wasn’t looking.
Seriously. What the hell was she looking at?!
